I'm told my grandfathers medals are not in the correct order? Can someone advise as to the correct order from left to right (as you look at the photo)?
Hi This is Australian but same applies (I would think)- the medal - http://www.defence.gov.au/Medals/Imperial/1945-75/General-Service-Medal-1918-62.asp the order - http://www.defence.gov.au/Medals/_Master/docs/DHAM/04A.pdf Classifies the GSM as a WW1 medal before WW2 medals. I would leave it as is. regards Robert

Hi, IMHO WW2 Campaign Medals are in correct order but Palestine GSM, as a post war award, should be worn on extreme right after campaign medals. Steve Y
Correct. Goes after the WW2 medals; were it for the pre-war Arab Uprising (Clasp 'Palestine') right place. But this is 45-48, so needs to go after the War Medal 1939-45 at the end on the right. The Army & RAF GSM 1918-62 is worn in accordance with the period served, not the date of the medal.
Ref post/pre war GSMs, thanks for teaching me something new today chaps. Just one question: say an individual (with WW2 service) did both Palestine tours, got both clasps - where would the GSM be placed then? Does the pre-war clasp give it precedence still, or ..?
I think so Di, I couldn't find an image of a double Palestine group, but here is an Arab Uprising, pre-WW2 Palestine GSM, with additional clasp Malaya. First award takes precedence.
