I recently posted a thread in 'Searching For Someone' concerning my late Step-father who was a British POW in Belsen. What I am trying to find out now is the name of the hospital where he was sent to from Belsen. I know it was in the North of England, perhaps the Manchester area. He must have received specialist treament as he weighed only 5 stone when liberated from Belsen. Does anyone know of a hospital that could of dealt with his convalescence?
It may be worthwhile contacting the Army Medical Services Museum, who may have access to records of hospitals used for returning POWs: http://www.army.mod.uk/medical/ams_museum/ The Curator AMS Museum Keogh Barracks Ash Vale Aldershot GU12 5RQ Tel: 01252 340320
