Sorry Lee, his 'unstable' nature upset many of the silent majority here and his sort of behaviour cannot be tolerated. It has no place in serious discussion.

I enjoyed this: a myth-busting compendium of non-factual pseudo-facts about the Second World War.

And here's another on Japanese War Crimes:

    And one on Gandhi:

Japan embarked upon naval modernisation before WW1. As the premier naval power in the world at the time Britain was naturally looked upon as a source of technology. In WW1 Japan was an ally and in 1917-18 the IJN actually carried out some anti U boat patrols off the US coast. USN and IJN destroyers cooperated in the Mediterranean. Taranto was not the inspiration for PH -it confirmed that a strategy already in existence was correct. The genesis for a carrier strike on an enemy fleet in harbour occurred in 1918 when the RN was getting its first carriers and training up in Sopwith Cuckoo torpedo bombers in preparation for an attack on the German fleet. As an ally at war with Germany the IJN was kept in the loop. A successful RN carrier strike using Sopwith Camels as dive bombers against IGN zeppelin bases was observed with interest. Britaqin did indeed assist Japan in developing naval aviation in the early 1920s but at that time an Anglo Japanese alliance was still in existence and the Japanese government had not swung over to extreme nationalism.

A small word of caution when responding to posts on old threads. Thanks to an earlier but urgently needed software change, the coding for quotations was broken on older content.

So, just for the sake of clarity, that post would've read like this at the time:
Conspiracies. (Previously: Myths Of The Pearl Harbor Attack Exploded)

I usually fix broken quotes in whole threads when I come across them. Afraid I really can't be bothered with this one. It'd require tracking of Christos' text in particular and he's been banned - several times.

    'The Chris quote correction project'.
My eyes! I can't feel my eyes any more!
    Etc.

I'll second that the software change quote breaking thing was/is intensely annoying, especially when it seemingly put more 'unusual' opinions in the mouths of others.
No quick fix ever emerged, so manual spot corrections all we have.
