This is starting to get very annoying. The frequency of broken connections, and the length of each break is getting longer.

Tied in with this is the problem of delays when posting messages.

What's going on? Has the forum been moved to a crappy server. I should point out that ALL my other connections work fine so it's not me or my service provider.

Could people please keep this thread clear and only post similar connection problems. Cheers

I've had problems too. I just logged out for a second, and it took me about 10 mins to get logged back in. All other sites were fine, but this one has been a 'ickle slow lately. Anyone know of any reasons?

It was very slow for me last night.
I asked VP about it. He said his OK.
I thought it was because I upgraded McAfee but like you other connection work OK.
Was quite slow for me today.

I beleive Yusef moved the site to a server in his home country, but that was a while ago. But I have noticed it takes time to upload a quick post.

Other than it taking some time to post I haven't noticed anything much.

I recall receiving a notice (or was it a posting?) about two months back to the effect that everything thus far posted would be transferred to a new location - but anything posted thereafter would not. Also the present site would be closing down in June.

At the time I was very busy and, thinking it was a hoax, let it be. Anyone recall receiving something similar?

That sounds like the note from ww2f.com Gerry, as it describes what happened over there with a software transfer quite well.

I'm having no bother with speed at all but if I wander off for a while I sometimes can't get back in straight away. Never for more than a couple of minutes though.

This could be a Vbulletin issue as it seems to be bothering a few forums at the mo, if that's the case then I'm sure some upgrade will come along soon that'll sort it.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Thank you Adam for jogging my (I hope not fading) memory.

In January last, when the message or whatever arrived, I was still in Indonesia very much involved in helping my older daughter's effort to rebuild some of the over 100 kindergartens destroyed by the earthquake in the Bantul Province of Java.

Even forgot that I signed up with the new folks and posted a response to one of Ross's postings!

    Cheers, Gerry

It doesn't look as though the connection problems have sorted themselves out.

I made a post this morning that doesn't show up

I keep getting server cannot display webpage, but as thats for every site I visit it's just my local server.

Saying that, you know the site is going outta whack when I make double posts.

    From spdude.

Once a week the server makes backups of all the sites on it.. it normally happens at 3.00 am eastern standard time on Monday mornings... this lasts for a couple of hours and while its happening all sites become very slow..

The lag you're referring to, does it happen every day, or was it a one time thing?

Also, some of the lag can be attributed to high traffic on other sites hosted on the server.. I'm moving 1-2 sites off and it should help.

Can you let him know what problems you're having.
