Some things are just plain wrong with this country and this is one of them - F***** annoyed is a understatement ! Commonwealth soldier kicked in the teeth by Britain - Telegraph
What a surprising country this is, where the man who fought for Britain gets thrown out and the man who fought against us is allowed to stay. Says it all really and very very sad. I would like to think public opinion will change this decision. Regards Hugh
Good Grief, if they expelled every squaddie who'd ever been in a punch-up then Aldershot would be a ghost town.
Shameful, absolutely awful. RBL won't help because he isn't British - never heard of that before. He served in the British Army, isn't that enough? I despair.

That what I thought and if that is the case I'll be cancelling my membership - I get a monthly mag from them and they do seem to be happy to have lots of glossy pictures of commonwealth soldiers in it with missing limbs.
Does this not deserve some sort of petition? To Downing St or Immigration Service. I will be contacting RBL to find out if this is official policy.
What a shame. Surely there must be a member of parliament that could step up and do the right thing. Only in Britain, you say? Pity
Done - Although I think one of the Parliment petitions would be more effective. Anyone know if there is one?
I will certainly sign the petition posted above but I just accessed the UKBA site and tried to find out how to make a complaint. I got as far as this page: UK Border Agency | How to make a complaint And guess what.... site froze. I can't make any comments because I am working on a different computer now and still ironing out a few bugs but can someone else try and find out how to make a complaint or if the online process actually works?
Tell them to come to Canada, we will let anybody stay, and even if they are refused (which is likely because they are upstanding people) they can join the other 30,000 under deportation orders that have gone missing and that after 20 years of appeals. We will allow criminals to stay and deport honest people after 20 years because of paperwork foulups. Poor sods, I would sign a dozen petitions if I thought it would do any good.
At least you've got room! Yes we do. A great deal of room. The problem is that no one wants to live upstairs in the attic. 80% of our population lives within 200 miles of the U.S. border. Then there is the question of money. The invited and uninvited guests both receive some pretty posh benefits.
If it is true that this lads regiment have kept quiet it saddens me. We all understand the rules applied to serving soldiers, Regimental committees and retired officers should be thumping the table. Two of our lads made a decision during a NI tour that the civil courts decided required a custodial sentence. From major general Naylor rtd and colonel (QM) Lawrie rtd and a host of retired officers.warrant officers and ex Jocks, kicked up a stink and kept on doing so, until the day the two lads marched on to rejoin the colours a proud day it was too! A campaign at high level used to help.

Read this link and compare it to Bales case. You have 30,000 deportees on the run? lol Criminals In UKBA's Backlog Of 275,000 Cases - Yahoo! Hi Chaps - I know all to well how these 'immigration' threads can go so for the sake of Isimeli Baleiwai can we keep this thread just on him please. If you have a Facebook account can I ask that you add both links to your account and any FB groups you are in to boost signatures. Cheers
I sent an email to the RBL's Legionline last night to ask about their official policy on this matter and received this reply: Thank you for your enquiry and forwarding us the Telegraph article. I would like to start by emphasising that the Legion does indeed assist those that have Served in the UK Armed Forces regardless of their nationality. It would appear that the Telegraph is giving out an incorrect Legion position. I have notified our media team in regards to this. I cannot comment on our involvement in this particular case as I am unaware of the details or if we have been approached but I will get in touch with the relevant local office. We regularly assist clients, and their families, whom find themselves in circumstances like that of Lance Corp Baleiwai. We are very aware of the UK Border Agency policy of refusing leave to remain or Citizenship to those with significant Service records because of a relatively minor criminal or even Service offence. We have, with a number of other Service charities including Veteran Aids, been calling on the UKBA to change their policy on this front. We have to date been unsuccessful but will continue with this. Please let me know if you require any further information. Regards Dan Martin pretty clear I think and I hope UKBA reconsider their position on this and any other similar cases.
