I am preparing Thetford Grammar School's November 2007 Remembrance Service at present and am looking for some grave/memorial photos for use in the Commemorative Exhibition which runs in school during Remembrance Week. If anyone is in Chittagong in the near future please could you take a grave photo for me?

    Name: LEES, RUSSELL TELFORD
    Rank: Gunner
    Regiment/Service: Royal Artillery
    Age: 25
    Date of Death: 29/12/1943
    Service No: 942061
    Grave/Memorial Reference: 2. C. 9.
    Cemetery: CHITTAGONG WAR CEMETERY

Grateful as always for any help.

    Many thanks.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi David,

Any reason why I cannot get those details to come up on the British War Graves site? I have been going through RAAF and all seems okay for Bangladesh & Chittagong.

I don't have any trouble finding your other query.

Wargraves isn't a complete record and shouldn't be relied upon to be so yet. It seems to be an ongoing project and I've noticed new data being added quite regularly. There are still about 600,000 names missing.

The CWGS has 714 records for Chittagong but wargraves only has 36 so far.

We were lucky with the Aussies in Normandy query.

    Thanks Kyt.

I was looking through that site when I was doing the RAAF. They do 200 at a time whereas the CWGC do only 15 and makes the capture a tedious process.

I've looked on the War Graves Project for the photos but neither R T Lees nor G R Long appear.
    Best wishes,
    David
