    idler, there isn't a photograph of Peter Cane in his book is there? I'm trying to trace an image of him for an article.

    Now, did I put it back where I got it from or has it wandered somewhere else? I will see if I can relocate it tomorrow...

    Is this the same Column that William (Bill) Travers served with?

    Good news: found it!

    Bad news: no photos at all - sorry.

    At least initially, Travers was 49 Column (A and B Coys) and Cane was 94 Column.

    No photos of Cane amongst the handful in Chaudhuri's 9 Gurkha Rifles but it did have the snippet above and made me chuckle to see that their depot was in Birpur which is presumably somewhere up the Khyber...

    Thanks for looking for me. Birpur Depot, previous occupants, the Devil's in skirts!! Better go now, must have a leak.
