I'm interested in the following book. Has anybody any information about author and/or contents?

Checkmate at Ruweisat: Auchinleck's Finest Hour: An Illustrated Military Chronicle of the Desert War 1940-1942 by Donald Grey Brownlow (The Christopher Publishing House, 1977), pp.209 with index, select bibliography & glossary, B & W photographic illus; foreword by Brigadier Peter Young.

Did a google search. Found a JSTOR entry which I was able to access via local library. This is from
Journal of Political & Military Sociology

    Vol. 8, No. 2, Fall 1980

Appreciate your ferret work, but I'm wondering what the 'altitude' is.

I'm really interested in reading another eagle's perch view of command disputes, but more specifically about Ruweisat in around June/July '42.

Not looking promising, but let's see if anybody has read it.

If a lot of the book was about Ruweisat, you're right, that would be interesting and different. The command disputes have been endlessly thrashed over.

I’m not sure that I buy the line that the Auk had ‘belatedly removed his most inept field commanders’ at all.

    Regards
