Haig had his HQ at Chateau de Beaurepaire from 1916 but I'm not sure where it is.
I know it's off the 138 somewhere near Montreuil sur Mer but not sure exactly where it is.
It's in private hands & not viewable by the public is it?

Ah should have checked Rose Coombes again.
It's 4 kms south east of Montreuil on the D138, at SAINT NICOLAS.
    This must be it.
Got this off streetview, I assume that plaque mentions that Haig used it as his HQ?

you already seem to have found it , but, seeing as I've just spent the past 10 minutes pissing about with IGN maps you may as well have what I did...

Sorry Dave for wasting your time.

no bother. You didn't waste my time (I didn't know (or care, if i'm honest) where it was either!)... as you know, I tend to spend rather more than just 10 minutes 'pissing about with maps' every day anyway (just spent an hour making an accurate June 1915 front-line overlay for an IGN map of Serre just to annoy all those who'll be coming to my next WFA talk and who think that I'll just be talking about the bloody ('YAWN!') Accrington Pals on 1st July 1916)

Took these pics the other week.
I also bought a great local book on GHQ in WW1.
Did some pretty good Then & Now pics which I'll share later .
There's a good one of Haig's staute after being knocked over by some grinning German soldiers.

In the summer of 1940 the staute of Haig was used for target practice by German soldiers. It was torn down & disappeared, most likely melted down for the German war effort.
This photo is from page 77 of publication by La Violette called, Montreuil-Sur-Mer au Coeur de la Grande Guerre.
A great little book that cost €9 from the local newsagent.
I'll be doing some GHQ Then & Nows soon.
