    Evenin' all.

As the ww2talk forums list looks a bit of a mess after the merger of several different forums over time (ww2site, holocaust, wargametalk...) we aim to do some tidying up.

We'll be merging any forums that repeat categories, bringing all the 'weapons & technology' & unit history stuff under one heading rather than national divisions, gathering all the home-front sections under one roof etc.

Gaming and modelling will be streamlined and to start off there will be 2 new forums, one for 'postwar' military history and another for 'prewar' so we can rattle on about other periods to some extent, (they often feed into ww2 after all). Some forums will be receiving slightly different names.

I hope none of this will affect anyone unduly, if it does then please tell us why, we're also interested if anyone has a bright idea for a new category or any other change they'd like to see to the forums, for example Owen's sick of the header picture so we'll perhaps see if we can find another.

In short; Tell us what you'd like to see!
    I await your opinions.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Well, Chit-Chat and the Barracks are redundant, so probably should be combined.

On the other hand, I recommend keeping Allied and Axis weapons as separate boards. I have no idea what to do with the Weapons and Technology board, except to move it to the Weapons sub-forum for now.

    Good idea, this house cleaning.

P.S. The only fault with the header picture is that it represents only half the war.

    I think that's Owen's main prob?
Might see if I can squeeze Zukov or a T34 in there, maybe even something from the pacific ;).

I would certainly embrace a pre-war section. All of those lovely 1930's armoured cars... mmm

Post-war is good too. I would like to know more about Korea and Suez.

Just so long as there is no consideration for using your avatar in the header, Von Poop.

Put pics of obscure leaders and equipment and require new members to identify most or all of them before they can post more than introductions.:icon-mrgreenbandit::sign_lame:

The pre-war forum should be called inter-war to distinguish it from the first lot.
An interesting time both politically and from a technology standpoint.

I think just 'pre' will do, we all know ww2's the main event here. ;)

Good idea Slip! a series of battlegrounds, vehicles, personalities... and then a 45 question quiz as part of the registering process?
    Maybe not :).

I was referring to the Pacific as the "other half of the war," not the Eastern Front. Since the current header is so well designed, it will take some careful planning to revise it.

I had a look and as you say it's rather hard to fiddle with, kind of full already.
Any artistic types out there feel like having a go at a new one?
Maybe something with a similar tone, but a wider perspective?

(the current header appears to be 800X190 pixels, I shall check that any new image must be that size but presumably it's a good guideline.)

    Cheers,
    Adam.

    45? I was thinking 50 or maybe even 100 Qs:wow:and a short essay, say 2-3000 words?

It is full, and adding something might yield a too-cluttered image. To include another theater, such as the Pacific, may entail replacing something in the current header, which, BTW, is too narrow for the forum format. The left side of the header starts to repeat itself on the right, at least on my screen.

I'd noticed that when using the missus's widescreen laptop, I'll get Otto to have a shufti.

It looks to me that the site is set to viewed at 1024x768 resolution and it cannot stretch the header pic in higher resolutions.

The Pacific Theater should definitely be represented in some way on the header. I like the ideas being generated so far. Keep it up lads!

I probably have no right........but how about a women's stories...it could be called The Women of WW2.

    marcus69x I love WW2 meah!!!

Why not use some of that space at the bottom of the header? There's loads of grey at the bottom of the screen which is full of useless information. You could have western at the top and the pacific or eastern at the bottom. Or vice versa.

Great idea Debra. And a worthy addition it would be too :)

Debra, you have just as much right as anybody else :).

Trouble is we're trying to trim down the forums (fori??) and merge the quieter ones and I'm not sure that a separate category for women's war would get so much activity??
Hmmm... I may of course be wrong... again...
I'll think about it; I'd imagine it's quite a popular google search term & there's plenty of school and college courses on it... we could always put it in the ww2t section & see how it goes... more threads that could have lived there are springing to mind.... so I'll put it on the list!

    Cheers,
    Adam.

    Possible Forums:

The Lloyd Fredendall Campaign forum - Gives people a chance to discuss disastrous campaigns and find excuses as to why they failed

The Adolf Hitler Excuses Forum - Posters can incessantly rant on about the incompetence of everyone except themselves and will only listen to posters who agree with them!!!!!

Benito's Forum - Where a poster no matter what they do always make the wrong choice and fail to post ANYTHING successfully.

General Percival Forum - Where the poster quits the forum, even though they have a superior post tally because someone with an inferior post count insulted them and were convinced that it was in their best interest to quit!!

    sorry I'm rambling now!! LOL!
