Census number suffixes

Can anyone help with census number suffixes? I've seen M, U and W used: there may be others.

I believed that M meant modified and U meant unarmoured (only seen on prototypes), but a friend and I had a WhatsApp argument over W. I believed it meant wadeproofed but he produced a book excerpt which said it only applied to welded-hull Cromwells.

Is there a list of the suffixes anywhere? I've drawn a blank with searches I've tried.
