I have a distant cousin )named above) who served in The Welch Regiment during WW2. From what I have found he was a Captain and received an MiD whilst at HQ Medjerba Area in Sep 43 before moving onto the Sicily then Italian Campaigns. He was killed in action on 13 May 1944 and is buried at Cassino Military Cemetery.
According to the information he was only awarded the 39/45 Star and War Medal but not either The Africa or Italy Stars.
Can any of you experts out there shed any light on why?

I have The National Archive sheet which shows the awards mentioned.

His first name was Cedric not Cecil

He must have been on the staff of a Bde, Div or Corps HQ at Cassino when he was killed because 1 WELCH were not in Italy until well after that battle.
