Hi can anyone help identify cap badge?any helo appreciated.
Looks like Royal Artillery.
Definitely. White lanyard too.
Do you know how to investigate further only have a name find his division ect?:/
No, without seeing formation signs on his sleeve, it's not possible to go further. If you have his name and can find date of birth and date of death then the next step is Service records from Glasgow which will reveal 'everything' (cryptically !)
Hi i have his number now 1785251service records from glasgow?
See this link
Request records of deceased service personnel
You could look him up on Find my Past in the RA Attestation lists.
Or ask someone on here to do so.
Enlisted in 1941
Hi yes thats him what does any of that mean!?:/
Hi yes please if you could would just like to know where he served
see post #9 above. That was what I was suggesting.
Enllisted in 1941
He transferred to a Search Light Regiment on 28th March 1945
Z(T) 5.2.1946 is the date of his discharge from the regular army to a Territorial Field (Fld) Regiment. He would have been eligible for recall up until the age of 45.
Z Reserve of soldiers and officers who had served between 3 September 1939 and 31 December 1948 were available for recall if under 45 years of age.
All would be confirmed by obtaining a copy of his service records.
Good luck with your research

Don't assume anything.
