It is supposed to be a Somerset lad who started in Somerset Home guard and then at 18 joined Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry 2nd battalion.

Atm that doesn't make sense to me. Could it be DCLI or a home guard badge. I am total novice - I have no idea. Thank you so far everyone

Perfect. That is what I wondered. That makes sense. So this would have been when he was younger and in the home guard. Thank you all. I can see from the photo...exactly the same badge :)

    Hi all
ive just started to look in to my Dads war days. I have his release papers and have applied to the MOD for his history but im on a wait list so im looking for any help or direction. He died in 1976 when i was only 9 years old so never got to talk about the war with him unfortuately
I know he was connected to the Somerset Regiment, i have his his belt and cap badges showing the Jellalabad emlem as depicted. I also have his medals including the Italian Star so im assuming he was part of the 2nd Bat? but other than that i dont have any other knowledge
