    All I can say, again, is that Otto is aware summat's not right.
    He seems determined to get us all upgraded to XF2 (Mmmmm... Tables, mobile notifications, modern etc. etc.) and sort the server stuff once & for all, but also appears to be dealing with some real life 'issues' that take time to shake out.
    (I have to be vague there. Not my bleedin' place to share, but I can tell you many of us would sympathise from personal experience.)

    I get exactly the same problems as the rest of you, and can only apologise that we're 100% in stiff upper lip territory.
    Annoying when it goes wobbly, but it will get sorted one day.

    Not posted this for a while. :unsure:
    Often on my mind when these things we expect to just work... don't.

    Haven’t been here for quite a while so I shall see what I can do. Perhaps something, perhaps not too much. My health as far as my heart keeps me from breathing and walking properly, congestive heart failure. I just set this as a bookmark again so we will see if I have any trouble. I went in through an email in my in box this time.

    These pop ups are so very annoying they block me trying to log in. Especially this stupid Shopify add. It takes me some time but I suppose patience is the answer.

    A Lot of the time when I try to view the forum my screen stays blank, then after a few minutes it says ''This Site Cannot be Reached'' other times it just says ''Log in'' which I do, sometimes that Works, other times it says ''You must Log in to see this'' even though I have supposedly 'Logged in' ? So, I leave it for a hour-or-so, try again, and sometimes it comes straight on, other times it don't ???? The Wonder of Technology :banghead:

    For the last two weeks it has been hard to log in, with long waits and then each browser failing to connect. Sometimes mornings in the UK are better. Several times I have logged in, read a thread, added a post and the failing to connect happens - once it took twenty minutes get a post posted. I probably now spend more time reading offline.

    Putting aside the complete failures to load the site:

    The specific log in issue.
    Logging in and not being logged in etc.
    Only really solved by clearing site cookies.

    Not doing a full guide, as there are so many browsers and they're slightly different (easily googled per browser - 'delete specific site cookies & cache') but it'll go something like this:

    Close here, and any open tabs showing here.

    Browser settings.
    >Privacy and security.
    >>Delete browsing data.
    >>>Then either by time, or searching for ww2talk, delete cookies and cache for here.

    A few clicks, & usually gets you back in the logged in room for a couple of weeks.

    And no, it obviously shouldn't be like this, but it is!
    Urgh.

    I had a bit of an argument with Google AI. It regularly melts in the face of old-fashioned English passive-aggression. It agreed with me that the AI bot scraping is every bit as bad as a targetted DDOS attack and morally reprehensible.

    It also told me that most of it is U.S. based, which is logical. Is it significant that our servers are in the U.S. and members there report fewer problems ?

    If a forum or website is being overwhelmed by sheer traffic volume, data compiled by network infrastructure firms like Cloudflare shows that the United States is the single largest origin point of global bot traffic, accounting for roughly 43.7% of all automated web requests"

    I haven't been able to open the site for most of the day.

    Today is the first time for a while I can easily get into the site and threads without the blue circle scrolling around for a while before things load. Previously it has taken ages or not loaded at all or timed out!

    This is what I get a lot of the time. Not Secure. Or that little Blue circle spinning around for Ages, after which it says ; This Site Cannot be Found. Can happen like that all day during about Five or Six attempts !

    It’s a real pain logging on and getting worse…I expect potential new members won’t bother after a couple of failed attempts to log on…

    Yes, is off and on for me. Sometimes over two minutes to load a page, then suddenly everything goes zip, zip, then slow again.
