    Requin44,

We have a few Canadian members and they will advise on how to get his Service Record, the definitive document on his service. From memory they have posted on doing this.

Files can be obtained from the Archives in Ottawa here:

    Make an ATIP request

I have heard they have been working to clear a backlog of requests that had extended to beyond two years, would be very interested to hear their current delivery estimates.

That is a post-war service number, it was probably E5055 during the war. E5055 was assigned to the Royal 22e Regiment, though it's difficult to say how long he stayed with them. That unit was in Italy from 1943, so difficult to say how he found himself in Surrey in 1944.

Compliments of Klambie, I am in touch with a researcher based in Ottawa who may be able to get the service records in a much faster time frame. He charges a small fee. If you wish to proceed send me your contact information via PM.
