This memorial commemorates Operation Switchback, the Canadian advance in Holland from Belgium in October 1944. Eede was captured by the Royal Montreal Regiment and Regina Rifles.
Paul Did'nt know there was a memorial for "Switchback", one to put on the to do list. Great photos. The Regt took part in this. Cheers Rob Regimental Commander visiting the HQ 4th Canadian Armoured Division, where he was informed that 20 Battery, 59th Heavy Regiment RA was to come under command for OPERATION “SWITCHBACK”. HB list and Fire plan HB task table OPERATION “SWITCHBACK” received. The regimental Commander left to visit the CRA 4th Canadian Armoured Division and returned with the No.2 fire plan OPERATION “SWITCHBACK”. Précis of Infantry orders issued to Batteries. Reps established – HLI – Captain Noble, NNS – Captain Peace, SD&GH – Captain Ferns. Orders to Captain Holford (rep 10th Canadian Infantry Brigade).

Andy It's a mixture of careful research and luck... there isn't one book with them all in, sadly. This one I knew about from the Terry Copp Canadian Battlefield Guide.
Was that extra slab of armour plate standard on some of the Bren Gun carriers or local modifications in the field? Regards Tom
