    The Bedenham Memorial, Gibraltar

    This is a post-war memorial. It commemorates those who died as a result of the fire and subsequent explosion of the RFA Bedenham in Gibraltar on 27 April 1951.

    13 people were killed and hundreds were injured due to the View attachment 111041 explosion. One of the fire-fighters, George Campbell Henderson was posthumously awarded the George Cross for his gallantry that day.

    Just back from a week in Vanuatu and as I spent the time around the capital on the main island of Efate the only strong WW2 connection was the war memorial on the hill overlooking Port Vila. Attached are some shots of the various parts of the memorial and below is a list of the names.
