    Gibraltar CWGC Cross of Sacrifice
    Gibraltar Memorial
    Gibraltar (North Front) Cemetery

    The Gibraltar Cross of Sacrifice and Gibraltar Memorial are found in Gibraltar on Winston Churchill Avenue, near the airport runway and the road access from Spain. The Commonwealth War Graves Cross of Sacrifice is similar to those found in war cemeteries around the world.

    Behind the Cross of Sacrifice is the Gibraltar Memorial with the names honouring those buried at sea near Gibraltar:
    WW1 - 7 soldiers lost when SS Woodfield was sunk by German U-Boat on 3 November 1915 (all Army Service Corps);
    WW1 - 2 service casualties who died in 1921 recently accepted by the CWGC (the names were still to be added in October 2016);
    WW2 - 91 service casualties, mainly Air Crew and a small number of soldiers.

    Nearby is the Gibraltar (North Front) Cemetery where the most of the service burials in Gibraltar can be found. There are also a small number of U.S. Navy personnel buried in this cemetery.

    Two of the WW2 casualties, being of the Hebrew faith, are buried in the Gibraltar (North Front) Jewish Cemetery which is separated from the rest of the cemetery respecting the requirements of the Hebrew faith. One of the two WW2 Jewish casualties, Warrant Officer Louis Zalsberg, died in the same plane crash at Gibraltar on 4 July 1943 in which the Polish leader General Władysław Sikorski lost his life.

    Three others who died in the plane crash in which Sikorski died are buried elsewhere in the cemetery, in Plot 1:
    Colonel Victor A. Cazalet, R.A., M.C. (Plot 1, Row A, Grave 5);
    Brigadier John P. Whiteley, R.A., O.B.E., T.D. (Plot 1, Row A, Grave 7);
    Pulkownik (Colonel) J.K.H. Gralewski, Polish Army (Plot 1, Row A, Grave 6).

The headstones of Colonel Cazalet, Brigadier Whiteley and Colonel Gralewski are on the right of Row A next to the perimeter fence of Gibraltar airfield.

    Sikorski Memorial, Europa Point, Gibraltar

    On 4 July 2013 the Sikorski Memorial at Gibraltar was relocated to Europa Point commemorating General Władysław Sikorski and those who were killed in the same plane crash at Gibraltar on 4 July 1943. At one time there was a memorial tablet near the crash site on the airfield but this was relocated to a nearby garage forecourt on Devil's Tower Road in 2003. This original memorial tablet was also relocated to the site at Europa Point in July 2013.

    I was up at the National Arboretum recently and photographed a few memorials whilst there. Here is the memorial to the current Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, which of course hold part of its lineage to the King's and Liverpool Regiments. Apologies for the quality of the photographs, it was an incredibly sunny day.

    The Chindit Memorial at the National Arboretum and associated artefacts of remembrance.
    The three benches are in memory of Jack Lindo, 1 King's 1944, Neville Hogan, Burma Rifles in 1944 and Philip Hayden, also 1 King's in 1944.

    A few more from my trip up to Liverpool last weekend. I have a feeling that CK might have posted these before, but just in case:
