    Hello,
I wonder if forum members would have time to photograph any war memorials close to you and post them here on the forum? Or, if you have already done so, can you please post links on this thread? [Adding Memorial tag to the thread would also aid searches.]

I have been posting ones near to where I live, checking the names against cwgc records and they have certainly helped with my own research.

Of course, I am particularly interested in Guards. There are other members who have their own areas of research, who I am sure would be equally grateful for photos which may include names of interest to them.

Quite often a person's NOK etc is not listed, so any help by way of background is a help.

    Many thanks,
    Diane
Holford at War, any on this page of interest to you?

The Christchurch Citizens War Memorial was dedicated in 1937 by the Christchurch Cathedral . The Roll of Honor is contained it the Cathedral, on the walls of the chapel of St Michael and St George, the warrior saints along with layed up regimental colours. The memorial has been the centre of Christchurch’s Anzac remberance.
On February 22 2011 the Cathedral was severely damaged. Due to the risk of further collapse the Cathedral Square has been in the Red Zone, a closed off area while demolition is carried out.
For the second year the ANZAC service will be held away from the Square. The current plan is to demolish the Cathedral. The purposed demolition has sparked fierce debate. All going well Anzac will return to the Memorial 2013.
