Hello people, I want a discribtion with all of my stuff i have, so i'm collecting information about all of my things. I have tried to indentify this (see picture) but i c'ant find it the right info. The text on the shoulder is almost unreadable. ( i think i've read: .. armoured corps) So i hope you can tell me from what brittisch corps it was and what the rank is. And all other info is welcome ofcourse! http://members.lycos.nl/goeclan/shoulder.jpg http://members.lycos.nl/goeclan/front.jpg thanks, JJ
I believe the shoulder flash reads: Royal Armoured Corps The Badge underneath looks like the bull (black red bull on yellow) of 11th Armd Division. 11th Armd Div was part of 8 Corps in the NWE Theatre 44-45 Chris H.

Thank you for the acknowledgement Spidge. This is exactly the sort of challenge I enjoy. Bring 'em on I say! CH
Opps! forgot one last detail - the rank. Not actually my area of expertise but, I believe the three 'pips' are consistent with rank of Captain. A Captain was usuallly 2i/c of a company(Inf Div) or Squadron (Armd Div) 11 Armoured Division was equiped with the Sherman (75mm) and Sherman Firefly (17pdr) until March 1945 when it was re-equiped with the Comet. "The Black Bull" by Patrick Delaforce is a good book on 11 Armd Division if you want additional reference material. CH.
11th Armoured Division, the Black Bull. Infantry divisions work in conjunction with armoured divisions in battle. Third British Infantry Divisions armoured support, more often than not, came from 11th Armoured and the Guards Armoured. Great battlers. They were bonny lads, worthy of the great traditions of British Armour. I have seen a great deal of action with the 11th. We were known as their "Little Friends" for without us, they were going nowhere across the minefields. 11th Armoured a truly great fighting Division. Sapper
As many of you are interested in these different Fighting Divisiions I have posted a picture of the "Normandy Plate" Around the preiphert are the insignia of the divisions that took part in the battles some of them very famous mobs. Sapper
