As a youth back in the early 80s I read and reread a book about a young german youth growing up in Nazi Germany. Written in the first person the author vividly took me there as he described his innermost feelings. In particular I remember his unease as Jews became second class citizens and he along with his peers all joined the Hitler youth. The boy fought within himself and I remember the book ends with a visit to the local swimming pool and as he dives in he describes himself as if drowning. I would love to read the book again as it left me with a powerful image but of course after 20+ years I no longer have the book and can't remember its name. Can anyone help me out, as I'd love to read it as a thirty something to see what I understand from the book now. Sorry thats all I can tell you but my memory only has a few images left after this period of time. Yours hopefully Atholl
