English: As some of you may know I am investigating the death of three British soldiers who died in our local forest. I have a location recorded in a document of the time but no one knows where it was. The place name is the 'Chemin forestier des quatre cantons' and no recent maps have it marked. The forest surronds the village of Lyons La Forêt which was liberated in August 1944 which is when these three guys lost their lives. Does anyone have any detailed map of this area that they care to share? I have spoken to the local chief of the ONF (Office National des Forêt) and he knows nothing of this place but would like to find out. It is possible that the the place changed names after the event. J'ai un lieu enregistré dans un document du temps, mais personne ne sait où il se trouvait. Le nom du lieu est le «Chemin forestier des Quatre cantons» et pas de cartes récentes l'ont marqué. Not a contemporary map but a modern IGN map shows a Carrefour des Quatre Cantons but no Chemin Forestier. I have added in blue the unnamed tracks, the names came from the modern Parcelles Cadastrales map. Regards, Richard
I am wondering if it is not one of those lanes leading off that crossroads but has been renamed since 1944. I know the area very well as I live not far and can not find any signage with another name. .
