I wonder could anyone help narrow down the era for this uniform and possibly any other details that this photo imparts? It's a pity, of course that he's not wearing a hat, with badge. Currently, I believe, he was an officer in the Royal Tank Regiment and the photo may have been taken in the mid 1930's. Hopefully one day perhaps there might even be a name to go with the face. I possibly have some further - albeit - sketchy details, which I can add, in a further post - in a little bit - though initially, at least, such might confuse, rather than help as they aren't verified and could be complete Red herrings. Best regards Rm.
Thanks, I was starting to think it would be a longshot. My mother recognises this individual (pictured above from our photo album). When my Grandfather first "left the army" in the 1930's and went into the reserves he was given a job as the "civilian batman" to this Officer, who lived in Oxfordshire and London. Mum can't quite recall his name, Faringdon or Fanshaw - though only "perhaps" on the name. It doesn't seem like a 24th Lancer connection could be proposed, given the different dates one would associate with these events. A Royal Tank Corps Major in the early to mid 1930's vs. the early to mid 1940's so - potentially - 10 years apart. There might be different uniform elements between early 1930's and early 1940's that could categorically tie things down? Gavin Henderson, 2nd Baron Faringdon - Wikipedia Biographically is not a good fit, but they might have been related. Perhaps granddad's boss was a younger brother or a "Faringdon" cousin. Michael Thomas Henderson | British Resistance Archive (staybehinds.com) Brother to Lord Faringdon - I can't see a match there. Or his surname could "just" have been Faringdon - so a Major Faringdon, Royal Tank Regiment 1930's. Perhaps.
