I would be very gratefull for a photo of the headstone for PFC James W. Spurling who is buried in Plot C Row O Grave 65 in the American Cemetery Cambridge, England. I would also like photos of the following names on the tablets of the missing there:

    CPL Thomas C. Creed Jr.
    PVT Garland W. Donaldson
    PVT Ralph T. Earnest
    PVT Darrel D. Ferguson
    PVT Harry W. Mettler
    PFC Lowell L. Renner
    PFC Wallace W. Smith

All of these men were from the county in central Missouri where I live. They all were killed on April 28, 1944 during Exercise Tiger. Thanks so much for your help.

    Welcome to the forum buk2112,

I do not have pictures of the headstone and tablet(s) you refer to, but I did post a picture of the Madingley Cemetry on this link at Message #10:

    http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/war-air/27691-cardington-airship-hangars.html

I have also been to the memorial to the US Troops lost in Exercise Tiger, some because of a Naval Screen cock-up, and others who crossed a safety line and were killed in a so called 'friendly fire' incident. This is discussed in the attached link before and after Message #37:

    http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/general/34172-friendly-fire-4.html

If no-one offers to provide the photographs you are after, please PM (private message) me and I will see what I can do to obtain them.

    Best,

    Steve.

Thank you for your efforts Verrieres! I sure remember seeing that photo before, because I took it. Find A Grave is another hobby I got into about a year ago. Thomas Creed Jr. is a relative from my wifes family.

The service here at Cambridge US Cemetery was lovely
We stayed until dusk..the very last out and found all but one on your list
The photographs were not great as it was too dark
but we'll go back tomorrow to take others and to look for the remainder
Is this a private affair or is it in order to post the pictures on here ?

Please post photos on this thread for all to see. I would like to use these pics with your permission for a future thread on this forum, and for use on Find A Grave, giving you full credit of course. All of the men on the list I requested served in the U.S. 3206th Quartermaster Service
Company and should be listed on the "Wall of the Missing", except for James W. Spurling. Who according to the American Battle Monuments Commission is buried in Plot C, Row O, Grave 65. I assume he is the odd man out you can not find. I have been trying to post a photo of a local monument here, showing all these same names, but so far no luck. Thanks for all your kind work and happy hunting.

I like the photos, looks like you have a nice travel rig. We have a pull behind trailer that we like to take and camp at the local state parks. I have been unable to look up airstreamforums.com, each time I try I recieve a network error message. Not sure what that is all about. Sounds like you had a nice time at Cambridge on Veterans Day. I am a veteran myself and participated in three ceremonies in our town on Veterans Day, two were at schools and one on the town square. The first ceremony was at the elementary school (5,6,7 year olds) where we were totally shocked when they presented us with a check for $1200 to give to the Honor Flight Program. They accomplished this by donating spare coins since the beginning of the school year. The Honor Flight Program is to send WWII veterans to Washington DC to see the WWII Memorial that was just built in 2004. The money the children raised is enough to send four veterans on the Honor Flight. Children can certainly amaze you, all the veterans present were truly touched by their kind gesture. All of the ceremonies we had here in our town really made for a wonderful veterans Day. Got to go for now, hope to here from you soon.
