Been up in the loft and found thses photos of when mollusc and I were over visiting Great War battlefields back in November 1990. Thought you'd like to see these photos of Bunkers near Calais. Not very good I know as they are in an old album. That's mollusc in the blue jacket.
Aaaah, you and him carefree on the beach. Was it very romantic? Last pic illustrates the sheer strength of the structures doesn't it, the land falls away but the entire building stays intact as it slips down.
Has Mollusc recovered - he looks as if he's having a fit in picture 3. He was re-enacting an attack on the bunker. Notice flying grenade [aka a rock]. :indexCAGHJY15: Just looked for them on GoogleEarth. One at 50°57'31.97"N 1°48'20.29"E 50°57'29.50"N 1°48'3.68"E Also one with another bunker system just to lower left of it inland. 50°57'36.34"N 1°48'52.37"E Some info on the Calais bunkers is here in French.I've nicked photo from there. Yes, Mollusc's interpretation of the D-Day landings is certainly interesting and unique. Who said 1 man cant make a difference???!!
More on the Atlantic Wall here http://bunkersite.com Wonderful site Gordon, a bit wierd to navigate with the left menu but I wish I'd seen it before visiting Jersey, there's a few there that I reckon we walked straight past. Cheers, Adam.
Has Mollusc recovered - he looks as if he's having a fit in picture 3. I walked like that for 25 years until I could afford crutches.
