Hi , I have loads of things regarding the war in Burma. My Dad served in Burma in the RAF as an advanced wireless op.
I have a whole album filled with paperwork , menus , theatre tickets , train tickets, passes, programmes for productions he was in.
He met Jimmy Young in a hospital when he was recovering from Malaria.

Dad put all these together during his time overseas , starting from the day he enlisted. He died in 2013 aged 90 .. I also have photos.. copies of Phoenix magazine.. the surrender leaflet that the Japanese soldiers had to wave and the instructions to our soldiers as how to deal with a surrendering JAP .. (that was quite an eye opener!) the list is endless.
.A signed letter from Vera Lynn to General Slim Thanking him for his kind wishes after one of her performances in the 70,s
I have just posted loads of photos on the WW1 forum because I found a biscuit tin containing my Grandfathers things from when he was a POW in Doberitz, these were found at the back of the garage!
Anyway, Dad was a founder member of the Burma Star Association in Evesham and believe me , he kept everything!
Would it be OK to post a thread showing the documents he saved in this album?
It could be very long and take a while but I would love this information to be available to people who are interested.
    Thanks
    Kim

This sounds like a wonderful find and I think most of us would be especially interested in any photos you have. His name and service records are also great for those of us doing a bit of detective work of our own.Welcome to the forum. Do you know wher your father was and when?

Kimik, What a wonderful family archive. I would love to see it. Burma get forgotten when the War is remembered and those who had family serve there enjoy sharing info as it is so rare to see any references to it in the mainstream press.I will be keeping an eye open for your posts and pictures. I have a small collection left by my father who was in the army, including pictures of the surrender of the Japanese at Sungei Patani in Malaya, so your additions will be very interesting.
