I thought I would like to share what is a bit of a sensation in Denmark these days.
4 bunkers hidden until now have been revealed at Sondervig on the west coast of Denmark during a recent storm. The archaeologists are primarily focusing on digging out the personnel bunker at the moment where the interior is still intact though damaged by water etc. They mention it's quite a find since everything in the bunkers along the coast after the war was stripped due to the need of metal. They expect to be done digging at sunday.
I'm sorry I can't find a link in english, but here's some photos from the bunker site: Bunker åbnet

Must have been quite some storm if it removed enough material to hide those!
(Denmark must be somewhat concerned about it's coastal erosion rates ;).)

Does look pretty complete doesn't it, interesting stuff.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

I take it that it's just the entrances that have been revealed and not actually the whole bunker? (or is the one on the right not one of the new discoveries?) ...or do you have super quick grafitti artists in denmark?:D

Excellent and interesting link though - thanks for that.

    Dave.

The grafitti artists are really quick! :) I don't think the bunker on the right is one of the new discoveries.

Why were so many bunkers grouped together?

was there something of importance there?

With the lovely weather we are having here in Denmark, the bunker has been covered with sand once more. However I managed to visit the place before this occured and managed to get a few photos.

Thanks Kjaersgaard and Diana for providing the original material and English translation.

    Fascinating reading.

    marcus69x I love WW2 meah!!!

Amazing it has been there all that time and nobody knew it was there. So now they know where it is, have they dug the sand back off it again?

The bunkers in that area are placed in a rather rough environment. Apparently the entrance was covered with sand once more rather quick after they dug it out. For now the Hanstholm museumcentre is planning what to do with the entire bunker site. I for one hope they open some sort of exhibition because there are some really amazing bunkers in the area.
