Wasn't most of the D-Day fighting house to house?

Hey guys, don't fear, Bunker is still in development. Unfortunately there are no real physics in the game, especially Havoc (*drool*), but players will die in some agonizing animated ways.

So far we have some weapons in like the Thompson, Kar, Bar, MP40, Garand. Grenades work, and splash to kill many, etc. Other things are kicking around as well.

Hi whosyerdaddy. Are you saying he helped in the design of some of the maps? If so, that's beauty.

I love that game meah! Could play it for hours. :)

Right now we are using the RealmCrafter engine. Which is soon to get an upgrade which will make everything look that much better. Its basically myself (art) and a programmer/scripter Dustin working on it currently. We have redone the terrain for "The Farm" about 2 times now, so thats taking a bit of time. I am not exactly sure when we are going to have something everyone can hop into as we are still figuring out some technical issues.

I can show you this though. This is a concept I did recently of a gear switch for the british. Any comments welcome. Normal helmets would be for when you just start out, the Red Devils gear would be for later:

Anthony done a few conversions and made up his own maps for DOD for his clan and we had them running on our server.......

Sadly he spends more time on his MK1 escort car now.......not thats a bad thing just us thats losing out.....still least its a healthy hobby....not like some of the kids today....

Back to the game you have done and awesome job so far keep it up.....

Love the area you are planning to cover re: Caen as I spend my holidays there every year as the wife loves the beaches and I cant get enough of the museums and ww2 related stuff....

Love the smocks you have done for troops they look really realistic....

gun wise you have to have the sten sub machine gun as its was by far the most popular with the British side with the para's

Brits will use these weapons for their classes:

All around rifle: Lee Enfield (rifleman, engineer)
    Support: Bren
    All around sub: Sten
The Medic will carry some Brit revolver.

The weapon layout for Brits is fuzzy right now as they havent even been added. They are in pre-vis right now as we get Germans/Americans in. Someone in these forums suggested adding Brits, thanks. For the extra work! (kidding) ;)

    Hi everyone.

Bunker has pressured me to finally get on and create me an account and introduce myself. I'm Dustin the programmer working with Bunker creating the WWII game Bunker: Battle for Normandy.

We have been working hard to get the game to a playable state and we are almost ready for a very limited amount of people to play test some of the features. There will be no real game play, just a few people that can test out the current features and skills and give active feedback so that I can make realtime changes.

If anyone is interested please let me know via PM. We will try and get the current skills stable by this Saturday and have a test client ready for download. There will be a set number of hours the server will be open and we would like to get active feedback.

Thank you for all your comments so far, everyone has help us a lot in getting this together.

Hi mate welcome to the forum,

I would be more than happy to help out with the beta testing and give you feedback....

Might be an idea to make up a word doc with exactly what you are looking for ie do you want us to test it in different resoloutions what vid cards etc...

    Let me know..

    Regards Lee

Not a bad idea. We have a forum where comments can be posted, but it would be a good idea to have a hard document of what we are loking to have feedback on. I'll work on that before we start testing.

Speaking of testing. We had wanted to have a download ready and a server online this thursday (CST) for selective testing, however with all the development we never took the time to acually play the code I was adding. I got on with the client build and started playing the game and found a few bugs myself. While this is the reason that we want play testers is so that we can find these bug, there was a few that created an instance that made the game un-playable. I will want to have these fixed before we create the client.

Thanks for your interest. We'll have a base client up soon.

(oops, I posted this before seeing page8 of the forum)

I think Demotis needs more info on any quirks in the combat system. We can warn you right now that the build is basically terrain, and you load at different ends of the map (axis/allies). There are no 'thrills' in. If you do test, don't just go in guns blazing, or you get sent to the 'box'. I am sure Demotis will want to have some controlled combat going on, and then get some feedback.

This game looks good, it seems like Command and Conquerer more than anything, but great nonetheless.

and controlled combat? seems like a cool idea, i guess.. how's the messaging system?

no, that's when the Germans counter-attacked the Allies... D-Day was mostly beaches (Omahah) and forest areas... some of it was house to house, but saying that most of it, is wrong

Mostly beaches? Are you out of your mind? I love the way you try to pretend D-Day was all about the Americans at Omaha beach. What do you think the soldiers did after they secured the beach? Moved inland to village areas... Although I do agree alot of it was in forest areas.

CnC was more of a stratagy game. This is much closer to a Role Playing Game.

You will have levels of personal experence that as they increase you will become more powerfull. You will have stat scores that increase, and decrease, based on your actions in the game. You will have weapon skills that increase as you use an item, and decrease when your not. You will be able to communicate with other players and some NPCs. The combat will be based on an active turn based system, you get to tell it what to do for each action, but you don't have to wait for the next action to complete before performing your next move, the system controls that for you. It's really more of a World of Warcraft set in the WW2 era.

The messaging system is vrey lack luster right now. Just your basic type a message and everyone sees it. We will be adding a more robust system once we get closer to a beta or final release. I have been looking at VoIP coding and might combine a radio style system for voice chat between squads, with the ability to use special items in the game to overhear other chats. The ability to overhear team chat will be in the game for text chatting also, so you can pickup enemy radio transmission.

Heres some shots from this weekend. We are still working on terrain etc, but thats after we get some gameplay down. Dustin's been doing a sweet job of getting it all together. I just make pretty faces and helmets.
