    A White 6x4 transporter. The contract included both 15 ton and 18 ton variants. It looks as if the length of the Crusader meant the the loading ramps had to be detached and stowed on the load bed.

    Capt. E .J. Martin of Eltham, London, supervised a recovery team for this 23rd Armoured Brigade Sherman that went down a ravine at Roccamonfina, December 1943. Fortunately the local volcano was inactive, unlike Mount Vesuvius.

    Tank in the top photo is a Locust. The other is a Tetrach.

    In the photo showing the rear of the Hamilcar you can see several Smith Guns that had been stored under a tarpaulin.
