    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me any more details about the following servicemen who are buried amongst the local parish graves in Buckingham Cemetery? I am trying to put together a short film for Remembrance Sunday focussing on the often forgotten graves to be found in parish cemeteries up and down the country. It would be great to get some more details together of their service, cause of death etc to 'bring them to life'.

You needn't worry about the WW1 graves - which I am researching separately - but if you do happen to know anything about these then please let me know.

Thanks in advance and best wishes,

    Simon

As it happens, I have been researching the WW1 names on the war memorial in Buckingham, and can shed a little light on the story of Frank Luker.

He was the son of Joseph John & Amelia Luker, his father was a joiner, of 3 Arthur St, Gloucester

Frank died of Spanish 'Flu, at the Wharf House on Stratford Road,
He was engaged to the daughter (I'll need to check the 1911 census to get her name) of WH Smith (miller) whose house this was, and whose [married] son Gerald was killed in the war only days earlier, on 14/10/18, and is buried in Tyne Cot:
    CWGC - Casualty Details

The names of both young men are to be found on a large marble cross in the Buckingham Cemetery.

I cannot tell you much about Roads, other than that he was a farmer, died at home (Woodside Farm, Doddershall, Quainton), and that his name is on the war memorial.

He left behind his wife Emma Roads (nee Boughton mar 1899)
and 2 daughters - Ivy Bessie(1900) & Ruby Ellen. Surname sometimes spelled Rhodes or Rhoades

Again, the 1911 census might yield a little more, but I am not optimistic.

I have not attempted any research on the WW2 dead: I want to take the WW1 research as far as I can first, not least because the records of WW2 servicemen are not available to the general public, but I would be interested in the results of your efforts in that area, and am happy to share anything I have that might help you.
