Maybe an odd request , and It's just possible I'm doing it to bug a certain mate who once said buckets are far too common on models/dioramas of Panzers... If anyone spots a bucket or bicycle hanging off the back of a WW2 AFV, can they share the picture here. Evidence of Umbrellas would be nice too . Cheers, ~A Some from Bundesarchiv to start off with:
Adam Funnily enough, when I was acting, in addition to my Loader/Op role, as cook for two tanks, we had a canvas bucket that used to hang from the back of our Stuart Honey. In this I kept salt water and a piece of meat that I had to leave half cooked as I was disturbed by orders to 'mount up' before I had finished my cuisine. Ron
Adam, I will see what I can dig up, but this picture is intersting in so much as the Tiger I is an early version and the crew have fitted a Mk IV luggage bin on the rear of the turret. This was quite widespread until the makers produced the larger standard luggage bin. I alway's thought that Tank's and buckets go together Regards Tom
Cheers chaps. Think I pinched that shot from here Tom, lots more Tiger detail noodling to be found there: Tiger im Focus - Druckvorschau: Ergänzung zur Gallerie 503 42/43 - Seite 9 I'm not expecting a flood of images (that would be a bit weird... funny, but weird), but if anyone spots something in their travels around the web they might remember here. In this I kept salt water and a piece of meat that I had to leave half cooked as I was disturbed by orders to 'mount up' before I had finished my cuisine. Nowadays such an infraction would stop the war until the H&S unconformity (or whatever) was fixed and reinspected by the FSA
Cant let the jerries have all the buckets! So some british Daimlers with buckets, beds, funnels, crates, lanterns and even very large boxes of Chocolate! No bikes or brollies tho. here http://daimler-fighting-vehicles.co.uk/DFV-File%20Part%20Be%20-%20History%20-%20WW2%20North%20Europe.pdf
Some fab images on there Singe, I really must go through your excellent .pdfs again soon. Don't tell anybody, but half the point with these slightly odd threads is that they tend to provoke interesting images from peculiar Google searches...
i know this is technically a tad out of period, but my gun(m109 155mm sph) we allways had a bucket hanging off the ammo rack ,and 1 on the 548 ammo carrier as well, they are fracking indespencable with tracks
