    I'll have to put this on my "to read" list - if it's as good as his other book, Demobbed, it'll be a cracker.

    I have not heard a bad word about this book from the three or four knowledgable friends who have read it. John Buckley (name dropping clang) told me it is well worth a read. On tbe list...

    I'd be interested in it. The WWII Tommy has gotten little respect from historians, presumably because he wasn't very ideological and had a sense of humor. As for myself, I've always been impressed by what he accomplished and I'd like to see Alan's book.

    Not watched the trailer, book is very good as a whole - sometimes a bit limited in unit selection and substantial arguments being weighed on too little evidence but...

    As a whole a masterly work.
