Chris 1st Bn were in Norway, aboard the Chobry/Chrobry, when it was bombed. Many senior officers were killed. Will edit in link to my thread about this. Edit: Can confirm these are all Chrobry losses. See posts 11 & 13 http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/brigade-guards/17665-irish-guards-1bn-2.html Some Obits here BROOKWOOD MEMORIAL, ENGLAND

I can give you the 2 names from my Dad's Regiment on the Brookwood Memorial who were definitely lost at sea. NEWMAN, WILLIAM JOHN Initials: W J Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Serjeant Regiment/Service: Royal Artillery Unit Text: 337 Bty., 102 (The Northumberland Hussars) Lt. A.A. Regt. Age: 33 Date of Death: 26/07/1945 Service No: 4808515 Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 4. Column 1. Memorial: BROOKWOOD MEMORIAL TODD, JOSEPH TAIT Initials: J T Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Gunner Regiment/Service: Royal Artillery Unit Text: 337 Bty., 102 (The Northumberland Hussars) Lt. A.A. Regt. Age: 20 Date of Death: 26/07/1945 Service No: 14554896 Additional information: Son of Joseph and Georgina Todd, of Kilcreggan, Dunbartonshire. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 4. Column 1. Memorial: BROOKWOOD MEMORIAL The annoying thing is that the Unit Text includes Northumberland Hussars, who were 102 Anti-Tank, and not LAA. The NH did not nor never had a 337 Battery under command. CWGC have been written to with this information. A copy of the war diary is shown below, which shows they were guards on board a barge at sea (off Wilhelmshaven) which blew up whilst dumping ammunition. Although not actually named, I would say this is pretty conclusive evidence.
