Hi, Would there be a publication during the war that may of had a photo of this chap, being a MM winner, or were they very commonplace and therefore not publicised? many thanks 3953856 CORPORAL BROOKS Corporal Brooks MM who served in the Queen’s Royal (West Surrey) Regiment during the Second World War. Name Gwilyn Brooks Rank Corporal Regiment Queen’s Royal (West Surrey) Regiment Battalion 1/7th Age 38 Date of death 10 September 1944 Service no. 3953856 Awards MM Additional information Son of William Edward and Olivia Brooks; husband of Annie May Brooks of Miskin, Glamorgan. Buried Kallo Communal Cemetery, near Antwerpen, Belgium Grace no. 377 He appears to be the only member of the Commonwealth forces to be buried in this cemetery. The CD-Rom Army Roll of Honour, 1939-1945, states that he was born and resided in Glamorgan and was formerly in the Welch Regiment. This is confirmed by his service number because the Welch Regiment were allocated numbers 3,947,001- 4,025,000, whereas the Queen’s Regiment had 6,076,001- 6,132,000.
