    Thanks
Looks like another ‘character’ of which there seems to have been many in the war

Just to close out my question on this thread.
I have been shown here and seen elsewhere the WE for Brigade Headquarters
My father’s notes said just that he was at Rear 111 Bde HQ.

I made the assumption that this Rear Brigade HQ was merely a subset taken from the compliment included in the Brigade HQ, and I couldn’t get this to fit at all.

I have since found that the Rear Brigade HQ had its own WE, and this allows a much better fit. In one document the (as yet unidentified) WE includes 6 officers and 75 OR.

The Indian National Archives have shown me that Rear Brigade HQ was involved in all signal traffic to and from the front, including Supply Drop requests (QQ), locations and information given and requested, casualty reports and evacuations etc. to provide daily sitreps for Division HQ, and pass on instructions from Div HQ forward to the field, and many of these documents have my father’s signature or handwriting on the pages.

my thanks to all contributors who answered my questions.
    I am slowly moving forward
    Jim
