I'm searching for information on Harold Green (service number)1502114 - served as a despatch rider in the RA. He met his Italian wife in Viareggio. I have some sketchy evidence that his heavy anti-aircraft unit may have been part of Task Force 45, who supported the Brazilians at monte Prana (I think). Tried the usual archives and government paths. Can anyone shed light?
Always helpful to include where you have searched and what has been found, saves duplications. He stayed on after the war, also note another service number 10200154.
Sandra, In 2019 an Australian researcher added this information: Alas he had no responses: info on task force 45, Lucca area 1944-45 – Italy Star Association 1943-1945 the task Force was an odd formation: From: 473rd Infantry Regiment (United States) - Wikipedia This passage is on the Task Force: From: https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/world-war-ii-brazil-helped-allies-seize-italy-81576?page=0,1 A partial history: Download from: World War II Operational Documents From our "sister" site and only glanced at, it appears to have parts of the above document: http://ww2f.com/threads/history-of-task-force-45.12270/ It appears that there are several Italian websites that cover "monte Prana" + "task force 45". Hopes this helps.
