Interesting indeed - do you know what the TNA file reference for this is? I suspect it is from WO 208 series. Coincidentally I was checking out the listings of these last week. ADM199 you haven't by chance copied the WO 208/4498, Gustav Scheel file have you? Lee Doesn't look too happy to have his picture taken there does he. That's presumably a photo taken post-capture. Don't think he's wearing the correct uniform is he?
It is more than a little ironical, after the fanatical resistance of the 12th SS in Normandy, that their esteemed CO would be captured while hiding in a shed and disguised in a heer uniform. As I understand it he was captured by Belgian partisans and turned over to the Americans.
