This runs with a previous thread on firemans medal entitlement. I have, through government and other sources, confirmed that my late Grand father, was entitled to the WW2 Defence Medal, the WW2 War Medal and also the British Fire Service Association Medal. This was in bronze and was awarded for 10 years long service, with bars for every 5 years. My Grand father is entitled to wear this medal with a 5 year bar. The ribbon is grey, red & grey with thin black lines, separating the colours. This medal was issued after 1949. The government and local Authority Brigades, will only issue replacement medals if the originals are lost, but were issued! If the member is deceased and were never issued, they will not issue! Work that one out! So, I can only emulate. Any one help me with this, I would be most grateful! Thank you, Chris.

This looks like the sort of query that might provoke some helpful suggestions from the British Medal Forum. See here
