No dig mate, I'm very grateful. Just don't want to jinx myself.

I've got a North Staffs history coming from Australia and a unusual one, 'Green Howards at Dunkirk' coming from Canada.

Still very miffed I missed a copy of the Tyneside, Harder than Hammers. Got the Tenth of Foot last week for £60 ! I was driving to parents from Kew when I got a email notification from Abebooks on my phone that someone had listed a copy - I nearly crashed trying to quickly pull over and buy it before someone beat me to it

Andy, 5th Northamptons are covered (along with 2nd Battalion again) in Jervois' "The History of the Northamptonshire Regiment : 1934 - 1948" (Published by The Regimental History Committee, 1953)

Chapter IV (pp 43 - 50) covers The Campaign in France and Flanders in general (not really battalion-specific)
    Chapter V (pp 51 - 69) covers the 2nd Battalion
Chapter VI (pp 70 - 79) deals with the 5th Battalion.

There is a pull-out map showing both battalions' movements.

    It's not common though.

Another infantry history off my wants list with just 7 to go.

I'm desperate for a copy of C N Barclays, The History of the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment), 1919-1957. London: William Clowes, 1959. If anyone finds me a copy that I eventually purchase I'd be happy to pay a finders fee between 5% and 10% of the asking price depending on the quality of the book.

    Cheers
    Andy

I think that booklet is the same as CAB 106/231 Account of operations of 4th/7th. Regiment Dragoon Guards in Belgium, 1940 May-June. Printed, which I already have a copy of.

    Sherwood Foresters mate ;)

Sidelined by an unfashionable interest in the BEF or the wrong sort of signals? Don't rail against the injustice - branch out into a more socially-acceptable interest and train yourself up:

Bumping the thread's going to cost you ;)

Though, to be fair, you usually shout the brews at Kew; I just need to get down there and take advantage more often.

I think you may need to add Dr Edward Smalley's "The British Expeditionary Force 1939-40" to your pile, Drew... Not a Regimental, but essential. Unfortunately Palgrave MacmIllan and £60. Just out. And when are you at Kew? Would love to compare 1940 notes with you some time.
