    Hi

I am an author and am currently doing some research into one of my characters.

They have served in the Royal Navy during World War 2. They will need to have been young at the time (around 16). I believe that would put them in rank of Boy First class.
I also think they could be a midshipman. I have found research about the journals they were made to keep which would prove useful for my plot but again am struggling to find information on what there day to day role was.

Someone on another forum mentions gunners mates. Who would someone in this position report to. Whats the rankings?

    Many thanks

Sounds an interesting story, good luck. I am doing research on a 16 year old Panzer -Boy from the enemy.
