Popped down to Salisbury today to visit The Wardrobe.
Whilst there, little 'un picked up a leaflet that said Bovington is to close on Monday 29th October until February 2008 due to major redevelopment of the Museum.
That's not quite true as I've just checked the website.

Been planning a visit with my pack of beltring tank-nerds. Really does look like it'll be worth waiting 'till the Work's done, they say there'll be more from the reserve collection on display, I'm just hoping 'Contentious' gets rolled out for public viewing.

As we're on Bovington, has anyone ever been to their evening lectures or booked a private tour? We've been tempted for years by a trip round the museum in the company of Illuminati like David Fletcher.

Well, 'A' pack of Tank-nerds from Beltring would be far too random a selection.

    I see there's a timescale for what's opening when:
Tank Museum Building Work Still On Track (from Bournemouth Echo)

refurbishment includes the construction of a new building, which is slightly ahead of schedule, and is due to open around late June or early July.
Other new developments include a new tank arena to host tank displays from May, and a new guide to the history of the tank to open from December.

So at least July to see the new hall.

    This:
Vehicles are also being overhauled and repainted in their original colours, including a Stug III

Makes me wonder if we're going to see some of the first fruits of Jentz & Doyle's recent researches on what colour the things were really painted.
