Yep, he sure upset you guys!........he seems to upset a lot of people! But I kinda like him.... its as if we have something incommon!

I was suprised when labour refused to back Ken when he first put his name forward and I new he was going to win! But i think Boris might just snatch it from him, itll be the only trophy the tories will get this year me thinks!

Anyone who did away with Livingstone's impending extortionate £100 per day tax on historic diesels made after 1973 would have my support. Within a few years, it will be extended to mean that no-one living in London will be able to use an ex-military (or any other) diesel Landrover.
It's all so easy for the chauffeur-driven elite to pick on easy targets.

It's one end of the railway line to Bristol. I don't think there's anything much in-between though :)

This was partly my intention, I too had tired of looking at it after such a long while ;).

(For info's sake, the most recent poll anyone posted will always show automatically on the portal... I think.)

The Boris/Ken situation is a classic example of being on the horns of a dilemma.

I have no love for Ken but consider Boris all wind and....well....you know the phrase !

Come the day I will have to vote for Ken as the least of two evils.

Boris? Is he the comedian we see cavorting about? Him? The leader of anything? Stone me! what ever party he belongs to must be in dire straits.

I thought he was one of those comedians that ever quite made it.......Who put him up? They must be stark raving bonkers...Only my opinion folks.......Someone must love him... Stone me are they serious?! HA

One thing about Boris is he says what he thinks, unlike most politicians who lie through their teeth.
Then again doesn't Ken say what he thinks too?
That's why they withdrew the whip from New Labour wasn't it?

Johnson has not got a good track record of achievement.Don't count the Spectator Editor role as this job usually goes by patronage of the owners to the party types such as Johnson.

At the moment he is lounging about leading the good life of a parliamentarian contributing little to debate and appearing to be heavily involved in the social life of London. He appears to have the personal attributes of being unable to head responsibilty. In my view he has not got a track record to make him a suitable candidate.

If he gets elected as mayor of London, will he apply for the Chiltern Hundreds?.I doubt it.Like many of his creed,he will moonlight.

Remember Archer who was heavily endorsed by Major and Hague. Why is it that they never seem to find a genuine candidate?.

Are these two running for mayor of the City of London or of Greater London? I may be showing my ignorance of English politics because I am not sure if the City of London holds open elections or not.

This is the modern political mayor for the entire City Jeff.

The Lord Mayor is more of an appointee elected by the Livery companies of 'The City' and a few others. his role is largely ceremonial/charitable but also much to do with promoting business interests in 'The City'; that being 'the square mile' which is the primary business and financial centre. 'The City' has been a semi-independent fiefdom within London for centuries, but for day to day running still comes under the geographical remit of the modern mayor.

As a historical aside, these are the wartime Lord Mayors from this very long list going back to 1189:

    1938 Maj. Sir Frank BOWATER
    1939 Sir William COXEN
    1940 Sir George WILKINSON
1941 Lt. Col. Sir John LAURIE
    1942 Sir Samuel JOSEPH
    1943 Sir Frank NEWSON-SMITH
    1944 Sir Frank ALEXANDER

And here's the entire political heritage of the Modern mayor:
    2007- (Red) Ken Livingstone.

Looking at the poll it seems we don't really care.
Is that because most of us don't live in London or because we've lost faith in politicians?

That is a dreadful state of affairs. Imagine the French not caring about politics.
