I have read it. It is a very good book. Rommel was probably the most rational or open general in the war. He simply tells it like it is and is very humble about it. He reminds me of Bradley. He is the complete opposite of Patton. I recommend it.

I have read it and I think it gives us a good insight into his outlook. I still don't see him as a great commander and I think he was over-promoted. He ignored logistics too much and in the end this was his undoing.

I do think though that in Normandy in 1944 he was one of the few German generals who understood the power of tactical air, because of his experiences in Africa, which shows up in his writings.

    Well worth reading.

In the past i thought this as well. However, I am of the opinion that after a time he relaised they would never control the mediteranian and knew suppies would be very low for the forseable future. He basically had to wage war with the thought that everything he had at the moment might be all he ever has to wage war with.

I think his tour in western europe kind of shows that in comparison to his tactics in North Africa.

But perhaps this book will shed some light onto this area for me.
