    Hi,

New here on this forum, pointed to it by Philip (good advice, lot of info!). Does anyone know if there's some photograpic material on the net of the Morris-Commercial C8-AT? I'm looking for material of this type of truck in the airborne role for towing the 17pdr obviously.

Only photo's I've found are the frontal view inside the Hamilcar and one not-very-sharp one on it's way to Oosterbeek (still from the movie), but I'm looking for a total-view of this truck. I'm very interested if anyone can help me out on this one!

    Thanks, Daan

Whoops, Sorry Daan, As a bit of a sarcastic so-and-so myself, I thought that you were having a dig at only getting the one reply.

One of the problems here is that threads can get buried quite quickly if the right person doesn't come along.

It's always quite difficult gauging how much new posters already know.

Have you come across Rob van Meel ?

I always thougt I had invented sarcasm, but that's not the case as I've found out! So no offence taken, Rich. I know Rob, awaiting contact.

I read that it was based on the Predictor vehicle for the Morris C9 SP Bofors AA gun, but there is not much info. There is something in 'Wheels and Tracks' magazine maybe someone else has a copy? Mine is currently offline.

Issue 30, a follow-up to the Morris quad article in 29.
'Morris Quad derivatives - A survey of the MC Series C8 & C9 Models'
I looked it up when Daan first asked, and saw that the Maple Leaf Up chaps had already cited it and shared most of the info so I didn't bother adding it here.

However as the MLU page seems unavailable I'd be happy to scan the articles/s if you like Daan? there's a few interesting pictures - but as Bod says, info is still pretty thin (Though of course, in W&T it's a damned site less thin than most, real shame that project had to pass on along with Vanderveen).

    Hi Eddy, welcome aboard.
Looks like I'll have to scan the articles from the sadly defunct 'Wheels & Tracks' - will endeavour to do so over the next day.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

Hello Eddy, The Maple Leaf Up forum has been attacked by spammers lately and it seems that they've been able to damage it. I'm confident that it will re-appear shortly.

    Hi Eddy,

Answered your PM. I have put all the info from that link in a Word-document, pictures included. I can email it to you, just let me know!

Yes please, if it's not to much trouble!

Turns out I could be bothered tonight.
From the late lamented W&T magazine issue 30 - 'Morris Quad Derivatives.
Not sure how much it'll help with the specific query but as info seems so sketchy it has to be a start (I also scanned in the previous article on the Quad itself, but haven't posted it here yet) :

Pages left quite large so you can zoom resize etc. as required.
(Just keep clicking each jpeg, 3 times opens it up to full 'readable' size.)

Interesting info on Morris Portees. Does anyone have info on configeration of Morris Portee as used by 56 Recce in Tunisia as my Dad used to drive one first towing 2pdr then 6pdr anti tank guns.
