Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment ) + Canloan officer

    Would any of the members have any info on a Canloan Officer, Richard Coates, MC? Rank was either Capt. or Lieut.
    I believe he joined the regiment after its return from North Africa.

    tricky one as there were three battalions of the Black Watch in 51st Div of the XXX corps which went home after Sicily - the 1st -5th and 7th battalions - the 6th Batt. stayed with 4th Inf Div from North Africa - to Italy and Greece by war's end-

    yes I can see that he was 1st battalion - I beat WTD etc by four minutes - he's quick - and that Idler - he knows everything ...bit like Ramacal- don't really need the National Archives with that bunch ......
