Hello momat and welcome to the forum. There is an IWM interview by George Cozens of the 11th HLI in which he recalls they were at Billericay for 6 to 9 months from around June 1940. There was an unfortunate incident where a German fighter shot up a tent in which 4 men were killed from a wireless unit. He doesn't mention a date exactly but it could have been possibly something to do with your father?? Hi Lesley , Thanks . I will look at that. My Father had a burst ear drum from around that time and we were told a bomb/ grenade had blown up near him. He never spoke much about what went on.
