Beware: This WW2 site is being used to deliver spam. Clicking on the spam will cause you to lose control of your PC and have to pay the criminals. I live in Belgium.

I think I see a way out of this:

Don't click on any spam links.

They may as well be displayed in neon lights they're so blindingly obvious.

I would suggest running a malware checker on whatever device you're using.
    The forum appears clean.
(There are some old posts where people have come back and edited links. Impossible to detect, except by serendipity.)

I've never seen anything on this site, and certainly not the 1940 sub-forum. 10th May 1940 was a wake-up call of course, but I hope that we learned our lesson.

How come I never get those ones? :)

The google inspired unsolicited pop-ups! Don't click on them! Ever!! Do not be lured, suckered even, in!

The old adage, "looks too good to be true" is true! It's click-bait advertising, your choice as to click on it or not.

And you will see why I am disappointed. This is the sort of thing I get - and still NEVER EVER CLICK ON!

    Screenshot_20250911-073425.jpg

Kind regards, don't click that pop-up, don't touch that dial, ever.

Jim (not looking for insurance or ladies of the night. Ladies of the day? Well that's a different matter entirely. And nowadays, invariably nurses!).

And now they're taking the mick, literally.

    Screenshot_20250911-075108.jpg

Inspired by my chemo-induced barnet loss no doubt :)

But do I want a hat? NO! So I don't click on the adverts!

Kind regards, it's a learning curve, always,

    Jim.

P.S. Barnet solution? When it got to spending three minutes of a five minute shower clearing hair from the plug-whole to let the water drain away it was clippers out.
No.1 back and sides, No.2 on top. Not qiuite a "boule a zero" but not far off. I called it my "indian summer cut" to those that asked (and no hat purchase required).

And some didn't ask :). One ex-colleague on greeting raised their eyebrows and said but one word; "Arapaho?" :). Made my day.

Oh! A for real Tommy gun!

    Questions:
Did Tommy get it back after the war?
I hope it wasn't used on Tommies.
Has their Mom seen that DIY haircut? They might have to go to school today.

I get those all the time too, and follow the same advice of not clicking on them. Treat it a bit like being stopped on the street by someone wanting a 'few minutes for a survey', so decline and keep on walking. My fave pop-ups here are the ones that would appear to think I'm in the market for air defense (sic) systems or 'long loiter' drone capability - how am I expected to get those in the garage?

    Brilliant Martin!

Get's you to the front of the queue every time :)

Kind regards, keep the clippers handy, always,

    Jim.

P.S. Those are the chaps who put the word screaming into "Screaming Eagles".
And good on 'em for it!

Not Tommy, but Thompson might have done :)

Kind regards, and does lend/lease mean you have to send it back? Ever?

    Yo,

Blocking internet ads is easy and has been for years. WW2Talk may make a few dollars off some of them so you won't hear how to stop seeing them from me.

(Hint: an ad block extension for browser ... ;)).

    Regards ...

No, you get to keep it, but you still have to pay the lease. If you lose it you get to keep it. If it gets blown up you get to keep it. If the enemy takes it you get to keep it.

And still pay the lease. Clever system.
