I script for BK and all its expansions and I can promise you it is still going strong. We have just brought a new portal online. The forums are going well and the downloads are again taking shape. But sorting through 10gb of maps, skins, sounds, tutorials and mods is a bit of a nightmare.

Anyone know good ww2 strategy games in the style of Axis & Allies? I mean to play the whole war with decisions about resources and production also. What I found annoying in Axis & Allies was that the squares were so huge (and uneven), so a similar game with more freedom of moving forces?

I couldn't quite get into Hearts of Iron. The lack of a real combat phase, like the Total War games, made me loose interest. Plus all the settings for research etc was mind-boggling!!

Have you ever used Matrix? Matrix Games - What's Your Strategy?

If you click on "products" you can define your search criteria: Timeline, Tactical / Strategic, RTS / Turn Based etc

    Only for PC I think.

Are there PC games that include the war in the CBI? I mean, Commonwealth units against the Nips?

In Talonsoft's The Operational Art of War: Century of Warfare you have some scenarios with British and Commonwealth units in Far East like Singapore 1942 and North Arakan 1942-43. There is also new The Operational Art of War III from Matrix Games which have about 130 new scenarios but I didn't play this and I don't know is there any scenario in CBI.

I've always enjoyed playing airborne assault - not graphic or flashy but full of scenarios, tactics, strategy, and great for someone who's into the history of it all

    Hello gamers.

I think the best was PANZER GENERAL 2... but is old, and no work in ultimate SO (xp, etc...) now I play and test the strategic game "World War II Time Of Wrath"...

Company of Heroes is a little to arcady for my tasting. And most definitely not the best WW2 RTS game out there.

For a similar, but better, and a bit more difficult game, try Men of War. For a very low budget game, the graphics are quite good and the MP is superb! Hand in hand with the Commanders at War 2 mod that is out for the game, it just can't be beat.

For FPS, Call of Duty series is hands down the best WW2 FPS out there. If you prefer more realism in a game then in Call of Duty, I highly - HIGHLY - recommend Red Orchestra: Ost Front. There is a Darkest Hour Mod for the game that introduces the Normandy Campaign. Very great game, solid community, and Red Orchestra 2 is due to be released soon.

For Grand Strategy, Hearts of Iron 3 is the way to go. Probably the best WW2 Game ever, due to its scope etc.

The Combat Mission series is also quite excellent, with the Theatre of War Series by the same people - basically Combat Mission on large maps, in real time, with much better graphics. The latest Theatre of War installment - Kursk 1943 - has (or is) just been released as a standalone, the sequel to TOW 2.

Close Combat A Bridge Too Far is my favourite

I just checked out some footage of this game on You Tube.Although its only 13 years old ,compared to today graphics it might have well of been released in the 70's. In no way is this a disparaging remark towards its game play,it was just purely an observation on how graphic technology has moved on.

On the game front, I have all 3 releases of Company of Hero's which I have enjoyed immensely. Also Codename Panzers 1&2, again both very enjoyable.
