Hi All I have been sent a photograph that was taken at Belsen. It is very graphic and shows a mass grave full of Jewish bodies. The photo was sent to me by a Lady in Liverpool. Her father in law took it in 1945. She has no idea who was doing the burial? She passed it onto me along with other items of his to post on my Merseyside War site. I am wondering would you post a graphic picture on a site? I have not posted it here as I am unsure if I will hurt anybodys feelings. Or that the photo will upset people. I also think that the photo should be preserved somewhere. A Jewish Holocaust site maybe. Any advice on any or anybody who may be interested in preserving it. Thanks Ant
Ant If you feel that you would rather not publish the photo here, I would be obliged if you could send it to me by e-mail as an attachment. My e-mail address can be found here on my Blog profile in the "about me" section. Blogger: User Profile: Ron Goldstein I will then pass the photo on to one of the recognised authorities to see whether or not it is already in their records. Ron ps Link to my Blog now added
No problems with sensibly presented graphic photos here. Post away. Failing to include such images would seem to me to not acknowledge that horrible things happened, both at war, and in the camps & other places. If anyone doesn't like it then they can look away, you have after all given fair warning mate. ~A
Ok...I will send it onto Ron first. Then I will post it here after he has seen it. I just want to be certain it is ok to post it. Ant
Ant I agree with Adam and, as I said in my e-mail, you should go ahead and publish. I cannot remember seeing this photo before and will certainly pass it on to the relevant authorities for their comment. Regards Ron Lest we forget.............
Pure evilness. All those people!!! I wonder how many mass graves were dug during the war and how many have yet to be uncovered?
Well done for posting it Tony. How some people can deny it happened when evidence like that is freely available always baffles me.
The Soldier who took these was called Eric Cole. He also took many more in Germany. I am in the process of sorting them out and will add them to my site. I will post the link here when they are up. I am posting a couple of awards for Eric in the General section now. wondering how common they are. Ant

Thanks Ant In the interests of historical accuracy it is questionable that all the victims depicted in the photo were, in fact, Jewish. Out of respect for all the groups targeted by the Nazis, it should be noted that the Holocaust extended to many millions from various groups. That is not intended to minimize the tragedy of the Jewish people but as my close Polish friend is always reminding me, over 2 million ethnic Poles were also systematically slaughtered.
Every single one of those emaciated bodies was once a living human being, with a life, smiles, sadnesses, fears, joys, hopes, memories. Monsters extinguished them all one by one. This is not a pile of dead stickpeople, they are You, they are Me.
They could be polish or other races. Forgive me I saw Belsen and assumed Jewish people. I doubt we can tell for certain from the photograph. The photo was with Eric until his death in 2001. It then went to his son who has it now. I doubt many people have seen it.
Ron, Could you please let us know how you get on with the relevant authorities? Would be good to know that this photo hasn't in fact been published or seen before. If so, well done to Andalucia for adding a small slice to history.
